2008-05-17 Who is the thief, and what is he trying to steal?
Once again Thomas Freed III is our guest. Today's conversation centers around John10:10 "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy." This verse, often quoted out of context, is generally presumed to be a description of Satan, but in the context of Jesus' "Good Shepherd" discourse, where "true shepherds" who enter through "the Gate" are contrasted with pretenders who sneak in over the wall, the identity of the thief takes on quite a different appearance.

In this episode Marv and Jodi share about their background in a conservative denomination, and how their desire for deeper spiritual life has led them on a journey away from the familiar boundaries of traditional religion.
Like many of us who've moved "outside the box", Marv & Jodi have experienced isolation, rejection, self-doubt, and the pain of being misunderstood by those who were once close to them. Yet they have also found joy, comfort, and affirmation from the One who leads them and walks with them along the way.
